Get up. Take a walk to Starbucks for some caffeine. Then drop the room key off at the front desk. I ask the desk clerk (same one as last night) what kind of room do you get for $22. Bare bones room. No TV. Most share a bath. And usually trouble. Now I know.

She asks about my trailer. I explain and she tells me her story. I leave. Then come back and give her a copy of my book. Think she'll enjoy it.

Was an uneventful drive through Oregon. Some sun. Some rain.

Had decided to stop at a KOA campground and stay in a Kamping Kabin. Tried reserving one on the KOA website last night but it said to call. I stop mid-day and call. No problem. Only reason I couldn't reserve online is that they are renovating the female restrooms and they have to make sure everyone is aware of that.

I arrive at the campground right behind a mini motorhome with California plates. I walk into the office and there are 2 young women from Switzerland checking in. The clerk mentions the closed female restrooms but that they can use the male washroom if they don't mind. I've been to Europe. It's not much of an issue there.

I put my stuff in the log Kamping Kabin. The temperature is just above freezing (colder then average). All they have to heat the place is a radiant heater. I go for a jog and it starts raining. I run into the girls from Switzerland. No TV. At least they have internet. But there are no chairs in the cabin. The $50 for the night might not be a bargain. The cabin is still freezing. Glad I have a sleeping bag rated for -10 C.

Read a while. Book a hotel room near San Francisco. Off to bed early. Drive tomorrow is up and over the mountains into California. We'll see how the truck will handle the steep grades.
