We had a short 3 hour drive to Quebec City. We didn't leave Montreal until about 2 PM due to having to finish helping set up Rhéline's apartment. During the drive Alexis called a friend in Quebec City. Last spring her school did an exchange with a school there and she had made a friend. Unfortunately that friend had plans with her family. Her aunt was in town visiting from Calgary.

I was hoping to take it easy tonight after the past few days of moving (maybe catch up on some blog entries). Alexis had other plans. She wanted to go back to Old Quebec. I didn't feel like driving all the way into town and fighting for a parking spot. Tonight was the start of a festival in the old part of town...our destination. Plan B was to take the ferry from across the river in Levi that takes you right to the old part of Quebec City.

I had to rush. I needed to shower and then we had to get to the ferry. I got a little sidetracked when I met a couple from Niverville, Manitoba. This town is near where my sister lives in St. Adolphe. The couple were pulling this trailer with a 1972 BMW motorcycle and sidecar attached. Awesome bike! We chatted a bit about motorcycles, our travels and Manitoba. Then off for a quick shower.

We get to the ferry with about a minute to spare. We had gotten lost in campground hell. All signs lead to the far end of the campground and we couldn't find an exit. We went around in circles until we had enough of that and drove the wrong way down a one way street.

It was a beautiful evening to be outside. We wandered around for a while and then had supper, sitting at an outdoor patio. After supper we wandered up to the Chateau Frontenac. We watched a bit of a parade with the locals dressed in period costumes. Then stopped in for a "queue de castor". An extremely sugary treat that Alexis wanted.

We were able to take many photos and then wandered back to the ferry with a few minutes to spare before it's departure. Off to bed for an early start and another long drive on the road to PEI. The final 1000kms before we hit the east coast and the Atlantic Ocean.
