CAMPGROUND...........YEAH!

That was our drive today.

The second time we stopped for gas the filling station was quite busy. A few motorcyclists had stopped at the same time and there was only 4 pumps in 2 aisles. I come in from one side on the right and there's 2 bikes at the closest pump and 1 at the furthest one. One of the bikes moves away and as the second bike is getting ready to leave another guy sneaks in (he had just arrived). What's with not waiting his turn?

He leaves and I pull forward to the closest pump. The other motorcycle is still at the pump. It leaves and a car pulls in facing me. They quickly fill up even though I had already been there a while (that happens when you have a 130 litre fuel tank). I finish, go pay and wait for them to back up. NO way. They've paid for the gas but are dawdling doing who knows what. I notice them seeing me waiting. I wait a few minutes and then I end up having to back up (luckily without hitting anything).

Though the guy on the motorcycle "cut" in front of me, he quickly moved his bike out of the way before going to pay. I noticed him hurrying as he was filling and his 20 litre tank didn't take long to fill.

Just an observation as to how some people think of others and others don't. I don't think the people in the car did it on purpose. It just didn't register in their brain that it might be easier for them to back up, especially considering they arrived after me at the station. Gas station etiquette...I guess.

The other story for today is the potential fire at the campground. We had just finished supper when the guy in the camper next to us bangs on a window and indicates the power receptacle the trailer is plugged into is smoking. I go outside and see smoke and smell something burning. The receptacle is hot to the touch. I unplug the trailer and turn the breakers off. Go to the camp office and someone comes and takes a look at the breaker sub-panel. After checking all the connections realize that one of the wires is loose and plastic around one of the wires is burning due to some arcing. The breaker was for the neighbours trailer, but was next to mine. A while longer and both breakers would have fried and could have caused a major fire (right next to my truck).

So that was our excitement for today. Time for bed. Another long drive tomorrow.

Night night!
