Calgary to Swift Current Saskatchewan 546 kms

F150 maximum fuel capacity distance when pulling trailer - 545.8 kms.

Yep. First day of the journey and ran out of gas 200 metres from the gas station. We actually had enough gas but I turned too soon and ended up taking the long way to the service road. Hit a red light then when the light turned green the engine started sputtering. I was quite sure we were going to drop dead right in the middle of the intersection blocking all 4 ways of traffic. Luckily we made it across the road and into a store parking lot before the engine died.

So we took a walk to the store, bought a jerry can (on sale), filled it up with gas then drove the 200 metres to the station to fill up.

Isn't life amazing!

As we were leaving Swift Current we came across an accident. There was a semi-truck off the side of the highway and parked in a lake and a 5th wheel trailer and pick-up truck were in pieces in the ditch. Not sure what happened but the fire truck had passed us as we were filling up for gas. Could have been us...or NOT!

Next stop...Regina, Saskatchewan.

Campground #1 - NO VACANCY

Campground #2 - NO VACANCY

Keep driving and 75 kms further see a sign - KOA Campground next left. Turn in.

Another camper waiting to register. Campground full. Might be able to squeeze us in...no services.

We'll take anything by this point in time. 800 kms in a day is a long drive.

Guess what?  We were able to get some electricity (with a very long extension cord) and some H20.

This campsite was better then the ones in Regina. Took a walk along the railway and captured numerous photos of what Saskatchewan is all about....Grain Elevators.

Think It! Feel! Live It!
