I woke up this morning and it was raining. I had to drive the furthest distance of my Expedition, to-date, and all on the motorway (400 kms). So why is my life so Charmed? Because the drive was stupendous.

I was soaking wet, cold and had the shivers. There was 3 and 4 lanes of traffic all the way with large trucks zooming by or that I had to pass. I was driving on the side of the road I'm not use to driving. I couldn't see the countryside because there was so much water spray from the traffic, or the rain was coming down so hard. The weather was so miserable that my mind was pre-occupied with being cold and wet that the motorcycle driving just "happened". No Thinking! Just Doing! Now THAT is why I DO live a Charmed life!

Life happens the way it should when you stop "Thinking".

It didn't quite rain the whole way. It stopped for about an hour so that I could partially dry up. Then it started up again. I also didn't drive the whole way on the motorway as I was ahead of schedule and I couldn't arrive at the B&B before 4 PM so I took a detour through what was the most amazing countryside. The road meandered through the "Lake" district of northern England. This is where Wordsworth had his cottage, though I didn't quite detour that far. I zigged and zagged and went up and then down, all on the skinniest roads that 2-way traffic can drive on. All in the  rain. But it was awesome. I wouldn't be able to find a word to describe what it would have been like if the sun had been shining and I didn't have 100lbs of gear on the motorcycle. Motorcycling Heaven, maybe?

Then I returned to the motorway to get to Carlisle. I was still a little ahead of schedule. So what happens? I miss the B&B. The GPS didn't have the address of the B&B, though the  closest it did have was the next number up...which made it across the street. So I was looking the wrong way as I drove by. I had to go detour through the downtown area. With that detour I arrived just at 4PM. I park the bike and check in. What? NO single room. Too bad! They'll have to give me a double in the loft, with skylights to boot. I DO Live a Charmed Life!

Now back to this morning. I was having breakfast at the B&B when a couple also staying there come join me. Guess what? They're from Mission, BC. They're in the UK for a month. Just came from Scotland, driving a rental. Still trying to get use to driving a stick-shift on the opposite (not the wrong) side of the road. They motorcycle back home. We chat a while. They mention that they had to detour a lot north of Stratford around Birmingham due to all the flooding in the countryside. They tried visiting a castle but the roads were all washed out. That was my cue to stay on the motorway and not take any "shortcuts". They were heading south, following the rain. The weather forecast was for clear weather in the north..

My early, planned, start delayed. Even leaving late I was early.

Yes! I Live a Charmed Life because I create my life and whatever I create is STUPENDOUS! Also, Everything Happens for a Reason. That I know for sure.

Love to All!
