Finally I'm on my way to Amsterdam through the most gorgeous countryside. The sun started shining, the first sun I see in over a week. I drive for a couple hours, make a few stops then I enter the Netherlands. Amazingly I notice a change in landscape. I see a lot more water. Then it's time to stop for lunch.
As I enter the restaurant parking lot I see 2 mid 80's Lincoln Continentals that are all tricked out. I see 5 guys getting out of the 2 cars. Two of the guys look like Vin Diesel look-a-like wanabees . Considering the cars they were driving I am quite sure they had seen the movie XXX-State of the Union. I'm eating lunch outside when I see the 5 guys with a young woman wearing a very short mini-skirt (the mini-skirt is important to this story...just don't ask why). Then I see the woman go to her car, a mid '80s camaro, and open up the hood. The 5 guys follow her. Now she's bent over the engine doing who knows what while the guys stand around watching. She then goes around to the back of the car, pops the trunk and wipes her hands on a rag. She then goes back to the front of the car, closes the hood and drives away. It looked like the guys didn't offer to help or anything. They just stood there and watched. Then they got in their cars and drove away. I have to report that I notice more than just landscape when I'm riding.
I ride a while longer and my GPS gets confused in a construction zone. Actually they had probably completely reconfigured the roads in this area for a new housing development. I go round in circles for a while then give up on taking that route. I change the setting on the GPS to fastest route. It brings me directly to the main highway towards Amsterdam.
I arrive in Amsterdam and get to the hostel I'm staying at without any difficulties. It's about 3 o'clock. The stairs to the 3rd floor room are winding and extremely narrow. It's difficult walking up them.
Well that's all for now. Check out the pictures I've added to the last 4 entries.
