Where to start?

When you're playing catch-up with entries you want to be brief but relay the main points of the day at hand, or the previous day in some cases.

I could write a whole chapter about my meeting with Kirsten. We had such an amazing meeting of the souls. It was definitely a metaphysical experience. So yesterday afternoon I walked around Bremen, took a bunch of pictures, then returned to Kirsten's to pick up my stuff. We chatted a while longer as I was moving on to my other couch, at Miron's. One thing I must mention about Kirsten is that she writes poetry and is waiting to have enough of them to publish them. I mentioned that I was hoping to publish a photo album of some of my best photos and was planning on adding quotes and such. We were thinking that maybe the reason we met, as everything happens for a reason is so that we can collaborate in that project. Her poems and my photos. Only the future will tell.

I moved on to Miron's for my next couch surf. He's a Grad student at the University of Bremen in the Science Department. His thesis, I believe, is in microprocessors. When he is not assisting a professor by correcting exams he is in the lab designing microprocessor sensors. Last night we went into downtown Bremen, by the river for a drink. There we met another couch surfer from somewhere around Cologne (if my memory serves me right). He was in town as he's a software designer on a selection committee for innovative design. The amazing thing about this individual is that he was in a wheelchair and as I do not know what his medical condition is all I can say is that he was basically a "talking head". Not that I want to be insensitive in any way but that is the only way I can describe him. He controlled his wheelchair with a mouth control and had an assistant with him to feed him as he had no usage of his arms nor legs. Though he principally spoke German he was quite well versed in English. So I spent the evening conversing about science and technology. This was the exact opposite of my experience with Kirsten at the metaphysical level.

Miron had indicated that I could stay at his place a second night though he had plans to go out with friends tonight. That was fine by me. After last night's late night an early to bed night alone would be good. Kirsten had mentioned a Tall Ship festival on the coast in Bremerhaven. I decided to take a ride out there to see the tall ships. Unfortunately the ships were all in port and I didn't get to see them with all their sails billowing in the wind. As I was walking around I saw a ship from Canada. There was a young woman there giving out information. I mentioned to her that I hadn't spoken to anyone from Canada in 3 weeks. Well, that wasn't about to change as she was from Minneapolis. The rest of the crew were busy.

Back in Bremen, Miron came back from work. Having corrected students exams all day. I forgot to mention that this morning I had gone with Miron to his office and he had showed me the building that they "build" these microprocessors and then in his office showed me some samples. I found it fascinating, his research.

A co-worker and friend of Miron's came over and I showed them most of my pictures from my Journey around the United States (that's what they wanted to see). They were meeting others at bar and they invited me. I decided to skip the late night (Miron came home at 4 am).

This is the abridged version of the past 2 days. What my Tall Ship visit did was it gave me an idea of how to experience life in a different manner, travelling around the world by Tall Ship. The Canadian ship I saw left Canada in May and won't return until next May. Hmmmm?  Something to ponder.
