"Some experiences simply do not translate.  You have to go to know." ~Kobi Yamada

By far the best part of this day was the very beginning.  Sometime early in the morning we entered the Prince Christian Sound.  Apparently it's not always a guarantee on this crossing because of the ice (don't want to end up like the Titanic!) but global warming was on our side.  The captain carefully maneuvered us through the cliffs and icebergs and I saw the most breathtaking landscapes of my life.  At breakfast I sat facing the windows, and even though we were sitting with H, all I could think about was what was happening outside.  As soon as we finished eating, Dave and I went straight to the front of the ship.  We didn't think to bring jackets (even though we were in Greenland!) and the winds were cold.  But I could have stood there on the bow of the ship without a jacket all day!

Eventually we made it back indoors and attended three lectures back to back to back.  I felt like I was back in college--if only all my classes were so fascinating and exam-less!  First up was the FBI profiler, who spoke about pirates (in history all the way up to modern day).  After, H spoke about climate change.  It was a pretty controversial topic but the way he spoke about the topic it was hard  to argue with him.

When we left H's talk, we could see we were back out on the open sea and no longer in the sound.  We walked over to the movie theater to hear a talk on a book called A Private View.  Neither Dave nor I had read this book, but it was interesting to hear the speaker retell the story.  He was so excited about everything (he would raise his voice and his face would turn beet red) that it was hard not to get drawn into the story.

All day long, all I could think was...wow, I'm in Greenland!  I had just traveled through the Prince Christian Sound.  How many people out there can say that?!
