hey everyone,
Its been a while, and a whole bunch has happened since i wrote anything here. From ometepe, Fisher and I went to Leon in the north of Nicaragua for some city life. We spent a friday and saturday there, drank plenty of rum and cervezas. But sunday was forsure the highlight of the trip. To culture ourselves a little more and become one with the nicas, we spent the afternoon and evening at a Cock fight. no not us playing swords.....2 roosters figthing eachother with little blades tied to their feet and fighting until one is dead. So much fun, but both roosters i bet on didnt' win. Its pretty gruesome, and some of you will have the opportunity to see the video i took.
We then took a bus from managua to san jose, costa rica. Spent one night in san jose and made it to peurto viejo on the caribbean. Very mellow place, with plenty of reggae and rasta activities!! We beached it up there for a couple days and then got a little crazy and decided to take 3 days of whitewater kayak lessons. (so stubby....we're doin a pool session when i get back) Really fun time, got used to the currents, did some pretty easy class 2 rapids and got used to the moving water. Turrialba is the name of the town we're in and its where tonnes of rafters, kayakers and bikers come to enjoy the wilderness that costa rica has to offer. The rio pacuare is supposed to be one of the most scenic rivers in the world.
So we're going to relax our muscles tonight and get on an early bus back to peurto viejo in the morning. The plan is to be in bocas del toro, panama in 2 days. then really relax there for as long as we have. Unfortunatly i've got to come back to the cold in a little more than 2 weeks.
anyways, i'll be sure to give an update from Bocas in the next week or so. adios amigos!!
p.s anyone in niagara who wants to come on a road trip to b.c with no intentions of returning, let me know. I'm still working out some details as to what vehicle I'll be taking. But that aside, I'll still need someone to come for the long trip.
