Just a quick update to let you know how the tour is going. I'm getting very excited about my upcoming 10 days or so in Slovenia. It's a beautiful country so far, and I only expect it to get better. Summer peak season is picking up, and hostel and hotel vacancies are getting harder to find. Vila Milka was my second choice after the sketchy write-up in my Lonely Planet, but I'm glad I ended up there. It is indeed sketchy, but in a charming sort of way. The proprietor spoke English to me the first time I saw him, then French the second, perhaps confusing me with someone. I'll take either over Slovene, my sixth foreign language of the trip.
