Congratulation to the newlyweds, my good friend Rob Flint and his new wife Candice. It was a fine excuse to meet up with Aaron and play for a weekend in Boston. The wedding was beautiful and brief, and fun was had by all. Not only that, but my college roommate KJ is home for a while. We got to spend Thursday night at his family's home, and he's planning on stopping in NOLA on his way back to L.A.

It's kind of nice to get out of the toxic destruction and poverty sometimes. But it feels very strange to have conveniences and luxury. I was unprepared to wash my hands in warm water at the airport, and I've taken three hot showers in the last two days just to catch up.

Sitting here in the student center at MIT is another oddity. Under any circumstances I would chuckle at the Saturday afternoon organic chemistry club mixer and their science fair like displays. In my current mindset, it seems not only warped but narrow, a specialization in a world of very broad, immediate problems. I'm relatively an academic myself and all for intellectual pursuits and research, which is why it's amazing to me that I've quickly been swayed by my activist friends back home in the 9th ward. I apologize to my geek brethren for the emotional condemnation.
