When Devin and I first pulled into Baños we did a few housekeeping errands and had some lunch. After lunch we decided that we would take the drive down to the Amazon Basin to the city of Puyo. It`s 60 kms. and we were told it was stunning... they were right.
We headed down the mountain following the main river. They call it the drive of waterfalls for the obvious reason. We saw many amazing rock cliffs, waterfalls, and of course the many rivers that eventually lead to the Amazon. We took in the view as we heading to our camping spot for the night. We stopped at Rio Negro next to a great, albeit very, very cold, swimming hole. After some swimming and some sun.bathing in the sun the weather quickly changed. That night we were stuck in the van due to a crazy and wild downpour. We went to bed early as we were still catching up on our sleep from the festive holiday season.
