We rented a car in Aosta this morning & set out for Lake Como & Bellagio (2nd or 3rd home of George Clooney). After getting lost (only once) on the highway there & numerous times once we reached Bellagio, we got to our hotel. Actually it was a lovely, but scarey ride along the lake on a narrow road that hugged the winding coast. The views across the lake were unbelievable.

We finally reached our hotel, Hotel Metropole, http://www.albergometropole.it/ and couldn't believe where we were staying! It is right on the water, beside the ferry stop & in the centre of town. It is just so gorgeous, we feel like movie stars.We have a suite that overlooks the lake & has a huge patio outside the bedroom, with deck chairs & a table. A far cry from the refugios in the Alps during our walk over the past 2 weeks.
