This is my first full day back in Wellington, considering the first time when I attended a conference 3 years ago and saw pretty much nothing and a couple of months ago with my friend Brian for just one day and saw the botanical gardens.
Have to admit I'm already lovin' it here! It feels and looks so much better than Auckland in that its smaller, prettier, cleaner, friendlier and the buildings generally are more quaint and striking almost everywhere.
I'm staying for 5 nights in a YHA hostel and its really nice! I have a private room of course on account of my age and habits! The whole hostel is really clean and modern and great! It's also dead centre of the CBD which is perfect!
Of course I have to continue making my own meals in the communal kitchen which tonight consists of an energy bar washed down with a handsome glass of Mission Pino Gris! Bliss!!
Later I'm off to a bar with Suzanne, a french girl. We won't be doing much convo as listening to her trying to talk english is like watching paint dry! zzzzzzzzz At least she's not arrogant as all the French here are, in fact, everywhere!
Before getting in to Wellington yesterday, I visited the wonderful Southward Car Museum at Paraparaumu. Absolutely full of genuine vintage and classic cars. I spent hours there photographing them. There was even a London Hackney Carriage, which reminded me of my dad!!
Today, I had a great stroll through the city centre and waterfront. Had a break for a glass of wine in a theatre bar. I really like it here!!!
This morning I had a guided tour of the House of Representatives (the Parliament buildings) and the library. That was very impressive indeed, beautiful neoclassic and other classic rigmarole architecture etc. We were even allowed to enter the actual debating chamber, which I'd only seen on TV. Its based on the House of Commons, so is green and woody etc.
A feather in my cap for recognising Dr Lockwood Smith as he brushed passed in his bright blue anorak! (@ My British friends, no he's not the prime minister).
In the afternoon it rained so I revisited Te Papa and concentrated on the art gallery and the Treaty of Waitangi exhibition which I loved learning about in full.
I then went to New World across the road to refresh my vino supplies.
There you have it for today!
Goodnight and god bless! You can omit the last bit, I always do!

Sounds great. Glad you like Wellington. Is it living up to it's windy reputation? Sounds like you are keeping up with the glass or two or three of wine a day!
