My night in the motel room was excellent! Stayed in waitomo to visit the Ruikua caves which were spectacular! A two hour guided tour deepish underground with fantastic formations & more glow worms (better than yesterdays caves) after this I took to the road again & after nearly 3 hours arrived at whakapapa (which is pronounced F for my non-kiwi kriends) which is on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu. Well! I've bleedin well driven right into winter here! Very very windy, cold & rainy!! Booked into a holiday park & tried to erect my tent but it's too windy! So Like all hardened travelers I swapped it for a rather strangely smelling cabin but was dry and comfy. As I'm trying to save money on this arduous trip I dined very well thank you in the 4 star chateau here in Whakapapa & had a chicken karma OMG! I'd better change my priorities or this will be a short trip
