I will be driving from Central Auckland to Mount Tongariro to do the world famous Tongariro Crossing with friends over the Easter break then I'm on my own from then on! I will be camping every night except for once a week when I will hole up in a motel/holiday park to shower properly & recharge batteries both electrical & bodily batteries.
I have a passion for serious photography so will be spending much of my time trying to take the best scene, sunrise, sunset, mountain, lake, seascape, volcano, waterfall, city & town I come across & even the odd interesting human if I bump into one.
At nighttime when it's too dark to take pictures I will read, play games on my iPhone & play my classical guitar. I reckon I'll never be bored!
The only concern I have apart from car breakdowns, mugging & getting lost is the weather, it is Autumn/Winter after all but I'm hoping for a good mix of sun & rain. I am very well prepared for all conditions & eventualities.......I hope!
My course will take me from Tongariro to New Plymouth & a week hiking round Mount Taranaki then I will cross to the East of the North Island & make my way back up to cover Northland then back to Auckland on June 1st for a week to take part in a photography exhibition. After that it is straight down to Wellington to cross the Cook Strait & into the South Island.

Sounds fab. Can't wait to see the pics. Shame travelpod doesn't have an audio upload so's we can hear an audio diary of your guitar playing as well as pic.s By the time your journey finishes, you'd have an album by then xxx
