Hey everyone!!

The long ride from China Airlines was a bit fustrating, but as soon as it touched ground, I  immediately felt alot better.  The hostel I stayed in was Downtown L.A.  The city itself is quite big!  However, still has all the touches of a westernised city, so wasn't anything too different from what I'm used too.  Just alot bigger, and unfortunately dirtier.  It was interesting talking a stroll down Hollywood and Sunset Blvd.  Got a few photo's of some stars on the pavement...  Bob Marley, Chuck Norris (with a complemented karate kick from myself, haha).  But after a while ya get sick of looking at them as you miss the streets vibe if you got your head down.  Lots of people there dressed up in costumes posing for pictures.  I ofcourse got a photo with Darth Vader and Chewie!!! haha, loved it :-)

We took a climb up the mountain ranges of California, to get an arial view of the city.  It really is huge!  Also, the best part of it I'd have to say was cruising to Venice Beach (hour half bus ride), which was pretty beautiful with the palm tree's, the beach apartments aligning the walk ways, and the surf that strolled in on a regular basis.  I was very tempted to see if I could hire a surfboard here and get some waves in - I'm gonna miss that.   The only thing that took away from it, was the many a drugged up people absolutely everywhere.  This is in off season as well - i can only imagine it in summer!  haha, i had to laugh though when i passed a guy sitting down on the sidewalk, soooo far off his nut with a cardboard sign saying "GIVE  ME $1 SO  I  CAN  BUY  WEED!", and another that said "F*CK YOU" while holding a cup out!????  crazy shit!

The backpackers in the hostel we stayed in were pretty friendly.  We all had a few drinks one night in this hidden room underneath the holstel.  A door behind the fridge, down a concrete staircase and through an underground hall to this room where everyone was in, playing music and drinking.  The cleaners in the hostel we're Guatemalan, which were helping me with my spanish early in the mornings, as i tended to be up before everyone else.  Lovely people.

Next stop - Mexico City!
