The ride to Ios was interesting. We were on some huge "speed boat" in which best describes it. There was no deck and everyone had to sit in an allocated chair inside as it went rediculously fast that it was getting some seroiuse air time over the waves, and in all honestly, i dunno if that thud i was hearing when it hit back to the water was healthy at all? I dunno, maybe the guy was just just gunning it as the boat was already nearly 2 hours late and needed to make up time? haha if so, was one hell of a ride to be honest! :oP One funny thing though was, the crew on the inside were continually walking around with all these sick bags and handing em to people - yeah, definatly recommend the slower option if you get sea sick!

Once in ios we caught some random bus to Hora, which is the capital where our hostel was. We checked into Francesco's Hostel high up on this huge hill and our balcony had the most amazing view yet! Across the harbour then over looking the sea to this other island in the distance with the sun setting perfectly in the distance! By far the most beautiful landscape view i've seen so far on this trip. I will not forget this place already... Went for a bit of a walk around the islands many inter twined streets to get lost on purpose, (which really isn't that hard in the greek islands), and to check out all the stuff the little shops have to offer. So many interesting things to look at. Still thrilled with the whole pure white buildings with blue doors and window shutters.

After looking around for a couple of hours and having this fantastic bolagnase dinner, i went back to our picturette balcony hostel. Dan stayed here for the night while i walzed on down to Francesco's outside bar where everyone met in the evenings. Once there, i now know why Francesco goes... "oh you australian? Just like everyone else here!!"... as about 25 out of the 30 people here were all Aussies. I met someone and they said he was down the docks with an "aussie, aussie, aussie" haha! The bar was bordered by this stone wall half a metre height, with a straight drop down the side of the mountain, but providing an ultimate view just like our balcony. As i was mesmorised by the view, and took the first sip of my long awaited cold beer, a bloke called Dave said g'day to me. I pulled up a seat with everyone else at the table. Dave and his mate were also from Adelaide, Australia! haha - such a small world! We all got chatting over a few beverages. Sitting here with the sun setting, drinking a beer, chatting to new found friends, looking out over a picture perfect view in the Green Islands... Can life get better? - i think not!

GREEK ISLAND NIGHT LIFE :o)

There were about 5 aussie blokes, a kiwi and about 4 aussie chicks (aussie slang for girls) at the table. The kiwi was an absolute cracker! Funniest bloke i've met! After quite a lot of socialising and getting to know them, and a dozen beers later it was 12:30am already. The bar officially welcomed us all and gave everyone a free shot of something? No idea what it was, but very yum! The bar girls were quite crazy, but added to the upbeat atmosphere here. Green Island night life just starts around 1am. As Francesco owned his own night club on the island, we all got offered free entry into it as we were staying in his hostel. We followed the bar girls to the club called 'Blue Note'. There were sooo many of us. Walking passed heaps of the other clubs that were only just opening they were all bartering to get us in, just like what happends when you walk passed restaurants in europe. Heaps nice though as us boys straggled behind and lost everyone and had to rely on one of them to point us in the direction of the Blue Note. - No worries! Once we found the club we walzed in and it was pumping!

I went to get a drink, and they wouldnt serve me one, they said 5 Euro for either 2 tequilla sunrise's and 2 tequilla shots, or, 2 vodka sunrises and 2 vodka shots. (now this is an absolutely awesome deal), so everyone paired up with a drink buddy and kicked off the night! This bloke i was drinkin the vodka sunrises with seemed to disapear into the toilets for an extended amount of time, so this other aussie chick i hadn't spoken to paired up and we hit the tequilla sunrises and shots. She kept talking and talking in my ear, but understood not one word she was saying as the bass was so loud - haha whateva! We all of us went up to the dance floor and went nuts! Paired up with the other aussie chick that i'd met earlier, and ended up goin back to vodka sunrises and shots - this is gonna turn out bad i tell ya! haha! Well the night was awesome, and greek island club life was definatly worth the experience. Around 4am, a bunch of us walzed out wondering the streets absolutely lost. Then in my drunken haze, i ended up all alone, no idea where i was in the hundreds of interwining cobble stonned streets, trying for what seemed forever to find our hostel. Some how i ended up bumping into the kiwi guy which was completely lost and alone also! haha, so we sat down laughing about it and chatted for about 20 minutes before realising the wall we were sitting on was right next to Francesco's! hahaha!! BED TIME!

The next morning i woke in the biggest of haze not remembering even arriving home, and the description above was the best from the memory i had... Refusing to let a hangover waste any time of my trip i forced myself up, and we went to find some greasy food. It was 1:30pm, and breakfast was still being served. Oh these people have the right idea... Wake up at 10... layze around, have breaky around midday, lunch around 4 - 5... Dinner around 10pm, and then kick the night life off around 1am! So here i am with the fattest sausage, with bacon and eggs. I wasn't exactly feeling the best, and think i had to make a quick dash for the upstairs toilet. "must of been food poisoning hey?" haha - right! After breakfast we walzed on down to Milopitan beach which was meant to be fairly descent as we were told. After a bit of a trek around our corner of the island we met those bunch of aussies, and new zealander that i was out clubbing with the night before. I suddently was feeling better about myself after i realised they all were too in the same state as i was! haha! We all caught the bus down to the beach on the winding roads on the islands (i dont know how they manage to pull cornering off without whiping out another car off the road). The beach was awesome, very light coloured sand, surrounded by several mountains. An absolutely stunning site to take in some sun baking or simply floating out in the crystal clear blue water looking back at the mountains! So i did both :-) Even with abouy 15m in depth below you, the water was so clear that you could see right down to the bottom. Well untill we got to this ridge drop off which was a bit sketchy. Could definatly lap this life style up though. After all of that we decided to all play some beach volley ball. 10 of us so was an even 5 on 5. Lots of fun but unfortunatly our team lost! Grrr! - There's my competitive streak coming out in me again... Back to the beach to skim some rocks and and try to hit some bouy's!

Was a long day and we all were buggered so decided to go back for some beers! (urgh!) All sat around some table at some restaurant and had beers and shared stories for hours. The girls then went to bed and us boys went back to francesco's bar for a few good beers before the goodbye in the morning. Well 1am hit, time to goto bed and get ready to leave this island for Santorini (actually 'Thira') the next morning, which i was really looking forward to.

Well i'm again writing on the deck of the boat to Santorini - such a perfect location, surrounded by sea breeze and opoen oceans. Before i left to come here, we checked out of Francesco's and said goodbye to such a happening island. Met such great people here and will take the memories with me forever. Before we left, i had to have 1 more vanilla milkshakes of the local cafe as their were so delish!!!
