The day I said Goodbye to Bruce (ok so at this point I've suddenly jumped forward near 180 days so Bruce was a mere twinkle in my eye, so to speak...to bring you up to speed, Bruce is/was a beautiful Subaru Stationwagon (estate) I bought in Melbourne for a 4k km road trip to Brisbane).

Anyway, yes, I met two of the Korean guys who were interested, we spent an hour and a half wading through the paperwork that is registering a car in Australia and finally we were done! The Korean's with Bruce, me with one of his old plates in my bag and $2500 cash in hand...party time!

I picked up a present for Kes' folks who I'd been staying with for a while at this point, then met Kes for lunch and booked flights to Adelaide (4 days ahead) and a tour to Perth (5 days time) (I should point out her new job is travel agent, very handy for booking travel...).

Miki, an old school friend of Kes' was down and the three of us piled into Kes' dads car that evening for a road trip down to the Gold Coast to see The Butterfly Effect. Not only were the two support bands actually good, BE kicked up a storm and finished their en core with my favourite song, sweet!!

Actually started sorting my stuff the following morning! Not for Adelaide of course, way too early for that. We saw Miki off at the airport then head into Brisbane proper for the wedding of Kes' old workmate. We got to the reception a little early and got started on the bar, after actually buying the first drink we somehow attracted the attention of one brilliant waiter there who didn't let our drinks go empty the rest of the night, in fact he actually told me off when I hadn't drunk enough by the time he got back...thankfully we were at a table with some other people our age who got the same treatment! Just about made it back to the hotel...

Really early start in the morning which was not at all pleasant. Kes had booked us onto a tour of Moreton Island, a sand island near Brisbane itself. We got a ferry over with our little group then loaded onto a big 4wd truck which proceeded to bounce like a bucking-bronko across the island to a central desert area (there were a few small pebbles, the result of lightning strikes on the sand), a beautiful expanse of different coloured sands under a perfect blue sky, dominated by a couple of steep sand dunes...didn't take long to trek over there, jump on thin planks of waxed plyboard and slide down them headfirst! And you know what? First place for distance, yours truly! The sheer pride I took leads me to suspect one of two things:
1 - I need to win more things
2 - More likely...I need to get out more

Back to the beach for lunch then we went snorkelling around a few wrecks, it was pretty amazing but, so special, we saw a couple of Wobbegongs (1m long bottom feeder sharks) just below us, I even managed to follow one around for a couple minutes...not quite sure why but I found it absolutely amazing, loved it!! We saw a couple of dolphins and dugongs (manatees) further up the beach before setting back to Brisbane. Absolutely knackered but we got to hear about some Labour day weekend fireworks going on, obviously couldn't turn that down...got back to Kes' place eventually!

Just chilled after that, my last day in Brizzle and it was so relaxing. We went to the coast for chips and scollops. Back for pavlova (mmm these southern hemispherites are damn good at it) then finally finished packing.

It was an early start but I was excited about getting back on the road. It all went well (except for leaving my laptop and book in my checked in bag...) and not too much grief later I was checked into my hostel in sunny Adelaide :-D I explored the centre and actually really liked it (It gets knocked a lot by backpackers, don't believe it) then caught a tram down to an old seafront town, Glenelg to catch the sunset. Back to the hostel for my free apple pie and cream (oh yeah...), got chatting to the few other backpackers around and finally got to bed after an epic South Park session with a Danish guy.
