We took a circuitous trip north yesterday, in order to visit Hanging Rock at Lagro.  The rock is a large out-cropping of limestone, 100 feet high, overhanging the Wabash River.  There is supposed to be a waterfall which you can walk behind, but obviously it has been too dry for that.  Cliff decided we should climb to the top, not an easy task, and at 10:30 it was already very hot.  There was a great view of the river though.

Today we visited the only perfumery in the US, at Ligonier: Annie Oakley.  It was much smaller than we expected, but the history of the brand and how they make the perfumes was explained to us.  Of course they really just want you to spend money - which we did.

There is a large community of Amish in this area of Indiana, and we saw several buggies as we were driving along.  Amish do not approve of having their photo taken, so it was almost impossible to get any pictures.  We decided to visit Amish Acres in Nappanee.  Three generations of the same family lived here and worked the 80 acre farm until 1968.  Now you can tour the homestead, take a wagon ride round the farm, see a film, and learn about the Amish way of life.  Of course they have added a gift shop, fudge and ice cream shop, a meat and cheese shop, a restaurant, and a theatre to help you spend your money.  As well as taking the tours we decided to partake of the 'Homestyle Dinner', a 3-course meal.  You only get one dessert, but you can have as much soup, meat, vegetables, and bread as you can eat, as well as unlimited soft drinks and coffee. It was a very nice meal, but we didn't feel like doing much after that, except sleeping!
