We watched the Tour de France as it sped past Chatillon sur Cluses in the Grand Massif in a July 2006 mountain stage. This was the first occassion that I had watched the tour live. Even though i had been a tour de France enthusiast for at least 20 years the tour live was definetly worth attending.
The atmosphere was wonderful. We made it a day out with collapsible chairs, picnic and wine. All around the locals and tourists were chatting and excitement built-up as we awaited the Pelaton. It was this stage 17 from St Jean de Maurienne to Morzine (200 km) that Floyd Landis broke ahead and finished stage winner. He was later disqualified and Oscar Pereiro went onto win the race in Paris.
More photos and village.
