Woke up bright and early after a restless night, our room seemed to be next to the laundry and any other machines which could make a noise! Yao was there bright and breezy at 7. Loaded up the car and off we went to the airport, unfortunately no time to stop for breakfast!  So luck we were with Yao as the flight was from the old airport which would have been very confusing for us!!

Had our usual cup of exorbitant coffee and boarded the plane I was the lucky one with the window seat. The flight went over spectalular mountain scenery Bari was most jealous of my seat! Arrived at the airport and immediately went to change as the drop in temperature was huge, there was snow!!! Niamh who had insited on wearing her Crocs against my advice suddenly realised why and rushed to change. Needless to say this process took a while and by the time we exited the airport, most of our fellow passengers had disappeared! Wandered aimlessly outside for a bit, wanted the airport bus but couldn't seem to find it.The cold got the better of us and we went back in, where we almost immediately saw the bus desk, typical! the nice lady there said we had to wait for more passengers as they needed a minimum of seven.  After a half hour wait, and a lot of hassle from taxi drivers, another flight arrived. There was interest in the bus but they wanted to go to Huanglong valley. A very nice lady asked what our plans were and I explained that we want to go to Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou but I wasn't sure what to do with the luggage.  She explained that the bus would take us to Huanglong wait for us and then take us on to Jiuzhaigou all for 100RMB each perfect!!! We eagerly boarded the bus and were soon on our way. The view was breathtaking!! As we passed through Songpan which looked like it would have been worth a visit, we stopped and the driver via the passengers  asked if we needed oxygen as we would be going up to 5500m!  We hadn't even contemplated that we would go so high and evenlesss what effect it may have on us--- so we refused explaining that we lived in the mountains (didn't say at sea level!) and went on our way up and up and up and up--------
