The sea was rocky today. I think it knew that it was Friday the 13th. After global studies I had my physics for mariner's midterm. It wasn't too tough but I got all the true/ false questions to be false so I guess I will see if that was correct or just a fluke. It was a pretty usual ship day which just consisted of me eating at the snack bar, working out, and watching Heather's team dominate another team. Once again the opponent had no idea what they were getting in for when they ran across "the giants" in the tournament bracket. Afterwards we all hung out on deck seven and Abbie, a 3 yr old girl with blonde curly locks all over her head, decided that she wanted to come eat her grilled cheese with us before going to see Wall-E. Her parents and 10 month old little sister, Lily decided to join us as well. It was fun being around the little girls for a little while and talking to their dad, Luke, who gives all the logistical preport meeting talks. He is hilarious and last port told us a story about seating in a pile of meat left out for the cats in Cadiz on a park bench that he used to retie his little girls shoes. He said he looked around and said to his wife "Do you smell that?...It kind of smells like meat." and as he shrugged and just continued to walk, his wife saw where the smell was coming from. He should do stand up because the way he tells stories is like no other. I wouldn't dare miss one of the logistical pre port meetings because his comedy alone is enough reason to show up. I went to the logistical preport meeting at 8pm to hear about safety, meeting times for trips, as well as more funny stories from Luke. This time he poked fun at one of our dean's who is in his late forties and in better shape than everyone else on the ship. The dean, Les, has been working out with one of our guest lecturers on board who played volleyball in the Olympics. The guest lecturer is from South Africa, fifty three, and still rocking shaggy blonde hair. He is a hit with all the ladies around the pool because he looks better than half the guys! Its no surprise though because a very common site in the gym in the afternoons is Les and himself working out hard. Luke put up a picture taken of him with like five girls sitting around him just mesmerized while he told stories by the pool. It was pretty funny and the guest lecturer started blushing. After our meeting I hung out with Emily some before heading to bed. We have our diplomatic debriefing tomorrow morning at 8 am and then I am headed out into the Namib Desert to go star gazing and camping tomorrow night! I am so excited! More to come about Namibia in a day or two! When I wake up there will be land out my window! Yay!
