Where I stayed
The next day I did a walking tour of the city and saw all the major sights of Dublin and learned a tin of history from our tour guide
On Wednesday, I took the day to tour the Jameson distillary and guiness brewery. How cool was that. Definitely way touristy and kind of annoying in that sense, but the experiences were still a lot of fun. In the Jameson tour, I got selected to do a whiskey tasting at the end. I was taught how to properly taste whiskey and was able to compare an American whiskey, Jameson, and a scotch whiskey. Very yummy and cool. The guiness brewery was very much like a self guided museum tour. You essentially guided yourself through the brewing process by reading the signs on the walls. There was 6 stories of "tour". That lead you to the rooftop bar that showed you 360 panoramic views of Dublin.
Also another note, it was poring rain on wed. I guess the weather here is always cloudy and rainy. The locals always talk about the weather and then apologize to you on how bad it is when they find out you are from out of town. I think it's a cool thing. Def a part of Ireland ( the rain). That is for sure. I was prepared so it wasn't a big deal!
Anyway on wed I also made it to st michas church. The cool thing about their church is that the crypt below this church has perfectly and naturally mummified the bodies. You can go check them out and learn the history of them all. The guy doing the tour was weird as shit. I don't know why his deal was but he was a very odd fellow
Well that essentially was my time in Dublin. Met a girl from Virginia in my hostal Caitlin and I had the next common stop in Kilkenny, so we decided to travel over there together! Fun times!
One more quick note. Dublin doesn't feel like the real Ireland. Feels kind of like an American city. I am really looking forward to getting out to a more of a traditional part of Ireland over the next week!
