In the end we decided to brave it and got the train to Hat Yai,reassured by the fact that our two kiwi bus friends Veronica and Jannicka would be on the train too...safety in numbers....
We had such an awesome train ride.....even though it lasted 20 hours, than 15!!! Grrrrr! We had a sleeper cabin ala 'Some like it Hot'...where not only were we reunited with our lovely ladies but we also met some great guys..... an english guy rob who had been travelling for the past three years, fabio from san marino (never knew that san marino was a country) and an older couple who were are surrogate parents for the 20 hour train ride!!! Spent most of the train ride sitting on the floor talking with the train doors open...slightly scary but vvvvv fun!!!! When we hit the border, our train was searched!

Since entering asia weve developed a fear that somebody has planted drugs on us and were going to end up rotting in jail soooo paranoid, but all was sweet, we were all allowed to get back on the train to contiue the rest of our journey...except for poor fabio as the thai immigration officials didnt recognise san marino as a country.....so had to get off the train!!! never known anybody being rejected at immigration before

When we got to Hat Yai it was absolutely crazy with touts trying to get us on there coaches....eventually we got a 'taxi' to the bus station and then spent another 6 hours on a coach to Krabi!!!!
