Following an overnight flight from London Heathrow with British Airways and a very nice shop in the brand new and luxurious T5, I arrived in Johannesburg and met up with Jane, Tamsin and Dave and wondered what was to become of the likely crew throughout the tour. We transferred to our first nights accomodation which was an experience in itself of driving and travelling in South Africa. After a quick power nap and shower, our guide for the day 'Hector' took us on a trip to Soweto and Nelson Mandellas pad followed an evening meal out at a lovely fish restaurant. The evening ended with a swift few games of cards (something which was to become rather a ritual as the tour went on) and an early night in readyness for an early start in the morning and the start of our trip, sleep finally got the better of my excitement as a good nights sleep was had by all.
