We arrived in Natal in the early evening and checked into Lua Cheia hostel. It's a castle, which is really awesome. Pricey, but worth it! This is the first HI hostel I have been to that I actually really enjoy, other than Laranjerais in Salvador perhaps.
Since I've gotten here, I have not been spending as much time with Marisel, in part because of being rushed out of Olinda, and also because of suddenly being back in a place with lots of fellow travelers from all over the world. Although her friendship was comforting back in Maceio, Maragogi, and Olinda, I was starting to feel weighted down by her. It has been refreshing to make some new, more like-minded friends. I think it's pretty clear that we will both be going our separate ways from here.
I have mostly been hanging out with a group of Israelis. One woman has had a similar experience with an Israeli guy as I had with Sam, so we had fun sharing stories with one another. We did a full day buggy excursion through a ton of beaches up north, which was awesome. It's one of the activities that you must do in Natal!
Today, I just chilled on the beach nearby and am planning my next move...I have heard that Praia da Pipa is incredible, and am looking forward to getting out of this big city. I met a really sweet, slightly younger girl from Switzerland who will be my Pipa travel companion. I heard it's best to pair up with other travelers to get good deals on lodging, so I'm glad to have found her.
