After a deep 10 hour sleep we both wake refreshed and ready to hit the road. The weather is much better today and it is hot and sunny. We leave Lemon Tree Passage and head straight to the supermarket for sun cream and mozzie bite cream - the local wildlife had had a feast on our fresh English blood during the night!
Back on the Pacific Highway to Buladelah, we take a turning for Pacific Palms and follow signs to Bluey's Beach. As we drop down the hill, we get our first view of the ocean and the magnificent beach with only a handful of people on it. We can't resist a quick paddle!
After reluctantly leaving Bluey's Beach we follow the road through Elizabeth Bay and start looking for somewhere to stop for lunch. We follow signs to Hawk Point Look Out Point.
The van easily made it up the steep incline towards the viewing point but neither of us fancied the walk up to the top, so we parked up and had a leisurely lunch overlooking the bay below.
We arrive in to Port Macquarie and check in to the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park http://breakwall.sundownerholidays.com/ A lovely site on the edge of the water and only a 5 minute walk along the Breakwall into Port Macquarie.
We decide to have fish & chips for tea (well to be accurate, Barramundi & Chips - how exotic!) and eat them on a park bench overlooking the water. It takes a lot to beat Yorkshire Fish & Chips but these were good! As we sit enjoying the view, the sun starts to go down
Having called in at the drive through bottle shop (unfortunatley we walked through!) to replenish supplies of the very moreish VB (Victoria Bitter) we sat for a while on a bench overlooking the water before heading back to our van and a few hands of cards.
Port Macquarie was a lovely place and could have imagined spending more than one night there, but there was more for us to explore further North. Maybe we'll come back one day ...
