Mauritous gave us a great welcome. Sights we visited were a factory making model boats. These were not the standard ship in a bottle and it is anybody's guess how to take one back with you - hardly fit a suitcase and getting them through quarantine into Australia would be a nightmare. So we just admired them.
Next we visited an extinct volcano with the crator full of water moving on to a temple on a lake with large statues. By this time we had travelled north across the island on the only large road.
We travelled to a waterfall for lunch at a restaurant nearby. Here we saw the coloured sands and a pen full of giant tortoise. These were over 90 years old and produced a demonstration to two Australian ladies trying to refresh their minds and seemed to be taking notes
