We arrived in Houston at 1230 and met with our land lady, Maria. We weren't all that impressed with the neighborhood when we first got off the highway. As we approached the condo complex we felt like we had just crossed the border into Mexico. We met Maria at the gate to our community, and she led us over to our home for the next two months. We were pleasantly surprised when she opened the door to a spacious three bedroom/two bath condo.

After Jamie signed the lease we began unpacking and vegging out after our 28 hour ride from Spencer. The next step was meeting the roommate. (Well actually, the next step was showering since after 28 in a truck we all stunk like butt.)

Jenelle walked in at around 730. Her and Jamie quickly hit it off. (It may have been the mutual love of mac & cheese and cadaver labs.) We decided that the best way to get to know one another was to hit the bar. The four of us (three roommates and Jamie's cousin Mike) hopped in the car and headed over to Westheimer Rd where all the bars and restaurants are located (conveniently two blocks away.)

As soon as we hit the street we could see the downtown skyline all lit up (not to mention the bars). The two of fell in love with the city at that moment. We headed over to Sam's Boat, a pretty large indoor/outdoor bar right on the main strip set up to look like the deck of a ship. (I believe Diversity was an old, old wooden ship...) We ordered our drinks (again, after Janelle knocked her first one over) and headed over to the main deck where the band was playing. After a few drinks we decided it was time to head home. As we got up to leave, the cover band began to play Achy Breaky Heart, the Billy Ray Cyrus classic, and it cemented our love for our new home.
