This morning we left the Danube River and enter the huge Main Danube canal...links the North Sea to the Black Sea.  We go through 16 locks...what a job...every time we go through we lower all antennae and computers go down.  That is why I am just catching up with the 16th on the21st .  We just came out of the canal and into the Rhine and it was too beautiful with castles and all to stop and write and catch up.....more about later.

Back to the canal.  Now ships like ours can cruise from Romania to the Netherlands because of this wonderful canal.  At the highest point we go over the Continental Divide.

Nuremberg is Bavaria's 2nd largest city and is a big showcase for it's Nazi past.  Although, they have removed all Swastika.  Very somber place.  Probably because everyplace is closed on Sunday.  Restaurants were open...that's all.  We went to Rally grounds where Hitler held his big annual Nazi Rallies.  But it is a shell of it's former self.  Parts of it are missing , I believe, taken down to make it look pathetic.  People here are not proud of it at all.  We saw the buildings where the trials were held.  Closed also.

Hitler held his Party Rallies here every year in September, up until 1938.  They lasted a week a week and drew as many as one million people to Nuremberg from all over Germany.

The Nuremberg Trials were held here ....many people believe to counteract what the rallies had meant to Nuremberg.

On a lighter note today the city flourishes and is a great place to visit for it's toys and Christmas Market.

Off we go to sail to Bamberg

Goodnight
