Travel Day

Thursday was my travel day.

I worked until lunchtime and then had lunch with my favorite cousin, Beverly.  It's a regular Thursday thing at West End Cafe - yummy!

After lunch I headed home to do last minute packing and then loaded the car.

My sweet husband, Roger took me to the airport - of course we were extremely early.  Early is our middle name - actually Roger's middle name is Earl so I guess it fits.  Fortunately we both got the early gene - I'm not sure why it didn't get passed on to our son, Brad.

The flight from Greensboro, NC to Houston, Texas was uneventful - I just read my book, Texas Brides, I thought that seemed appropriate since I was going to spend a week in Texas.  Normally I'm not a big reader but it does pass the time on flights.

Once I got to Houston, of all things they were having rain - I hope history is not going to repeat itself.  When I was on the 2009 Lone Star Circle of Life Team it rained almost everyday, but it ended the drought that year - smile.

It was only raining in Houston, but apparently there were a lot of storms around.  I arrived on schedule in Houston at 8:00 PM.  I had an hour and a half to make my connection.  I found my gate and then found the restroom and even found a Starbucks, which was closed so I settled for a smoothie from McDonald's. A lot of flights were canceled. My flight was to depart at 9:30 PM and arrive in Beaumont at 10:17 PM.  The screen indicated my flight was delayed to 10:25, then 11:00 and they they switched it back to 9:45.  I arrived in Beaumont, which is a very small airport - I only saw two gates.  There were no taxi's waiting outside but I did find a phone book and called a taxi to pick me up. The cab driver was a nice little man in a white Camry.  The bike (which was in a box) wouldn't fit all the way into the trunk even though it had fit in Roger's Civic.  Fortunately, it made the trip without falling out on the interstate.

I finally arrived at the hotel at 11:45 PM, it was a welcome site.
