Got in the first day after Paris to our hotel room, I know yeah, living it up
Next day we spent it exploring the town during the day and it was such a pretty town, everywhere you go it's filled with timberframed houses, small alleyways with antique shops or hand crafts or ginger bread =P, was a lot of fun gettings lost in those streets. We found the cathedral too, the tallest in France and the tower on this thing was HUGE. We didn't go up it but the inside was very nice...another one of your typical gothic churches I guess but the stained glass windows were freshly restored so they were extra bright =O, amazing. Was going in for dessert but ended up having a delicious meal near the church...first first try of Alsatian food, orange chicken on legumes...mmmm, good start!! =P Unfortunately, on the day that we were wondering the streets, I had forgotten my camera battery...*sigh* SO, to make up for it, I went out again later that day JUST to take pictures haha. Was worth it though, the streets of Strasbourg are so nice to walk through, seriously, just pick a pretty lane and walk you'll be pleasantly surprised =) Had our second Alsatian meal that night, Tarte flambée for the girls (Yee-Ling and Tracy) and Choucroute for me...mmmm, sauerkraut...a WHOLE plateful, delicious, sort of =S No no, there was some pork cuttings too so that was nice and the whole affiar was very Alscatian =D
The next day since there was no train to Reims, our plans for champagne tasting were somewhat twarted but we decided to go instead to Nancy in fair Lorraine
So back to Strasbourg that night, being Asian we craved some asian food haha so Pho it was! Embarrassingly, after we spent the first 10 minutes wondering why weren't being served, I called out quite loudly "PARDON" to get their attention, only to find out that they weren't actually opened yet (this was 6:45, they opened at 7) and the only reason why they let us in was so that we didn't have to wait in the cold >.< I felt so bad
Last day in Strasbourg was surprisingly hard haha. First of all we had run out of things to do...pretty as it may be, it's still a small town and second, it had started raining =(. We checked out the modern art museum, cool to look at but much harder to appreciate all the abstract stuff so that only lasted us about an hour or so. Spent the rest of the day restaurant hopping from soup to tea to dessert before changing to book shop hopping on our quest to find english books =P So that was how we spent the last days in Strasbourg haha. Was cool though, fairy tale pretty and an awesome town for a day trip =D.
Then it was off to Prague and the long overnight train ride there...D=
