Where I stayed
Barcelona, it's reputation as a party town is spot on! The nightlife there is full on! I reckon there's more people around at night than during the day. But it's also a city of some very cool sights with lots of Gaudi, Picasso and of course, the Sagrada Familia one of the craziest and coolest cathedrals that I've ever seen! Finally did a walking tour as well! Man I wish we went on more of these because you learn so much! Even if you don't spend a long time at each place...we were introduced to the old Roman gates of Barcelona, Picasso's school, the old port that used to be filled with ladies of the night =P and even Placa del George Orwell (aka Trippy...you can guess what happens there XD)
So, the nightlife! Well, first night we wandered out to the beach but had no luck finding ANYTHING...so sad. Next day, we joined a pub crawl haha, so many people but we bumped into friends that we met in Valencia! How cool is that? Dejan and Simon...Dim Sim =P and we also met Amber and Matt, aussies from Melbourne! Went to the first bar that played rock music! Serious! Had water thrown on us =S...Note to self, loud drunk british dudes at 1 am in the morning get water thrown on them so don't walk too close! And a first hand recount of American's trying to get crack...hmm...>.> CRAZY
The next day was for sightseeing...albeit only a little since we woke up late-ish haha. BUT we did get to see the old roman ruins underneath the town, it was amazing, you can see streets and houses of wineries and temples and just the people's lives! How those archeologists figured out all these things from the ruins is beyond me but I'm glad they did. That night we went to see Flamenco for the first time after 1 week in Spain haha, shameful...but we finally made it and what a sight it was! The singing might've been a little weird but so much passion in everything they do! And the lady doing the flamenco, WOW, I can't believe how fast she moves those feet and the poses she strikes is just so very cool. I could never pull that off haha. We also had tappas before the show, mmm, so good and unlimited sangria! =P AND to top it off, we bumped into some of the aussies from Madrid and the walking tour plus Dim Sim! We felt very popular =P. So it was a very fun night just hanging out, drinking sangria and teasing the British girl about their weather =P
So that was Barcelona, not so much sightseeing but we had fun times and met many cool people. And I guess that concludes my pre-exchange travels. I can't believe it's only been 1 month, it's felt like a lifetime ago that I was in Melbourne! Europe has just been amazing and I can't wait to see more!
