On a train now to Rome!  So much happening all the time it's just rushing everywhere.  Lee joined us back a Athens too, he didn't see the acropolis or any of the sights haha, but he had a souvo, greek beer (Mythos) and Ouzo so all is good =P.

We took a bus to the ferry in Patras on the 6th but didn't see much of the city.  It looked pretty run down, well the parts we saw anyways and is now aptly named, the "ghetto".  The ferry ride was an experience, met two other backpackers there, Jess (from Sydney) and Katya (from Finland!).  Had a good time just chatting about travel, study and Australian politics...as you do...=P.  But it was good fun, had this greek ice coffee thing too, quite nice.  Unfortunately, I got completely ripped off at dinner, 2.6 Euro for a can of fizzy water!  I saw everyone drinking it and thought...let's see what the big deal is...guess curiosity made the cat broke. =(

The ferry btw was massive!  Biggest boat I've ever been on and it had trucks and rooms and everything, it was like a hotel!  (well, with trucks)  Had good fun just chilling out but things turned a bit sour when it came to sleeping, especially since we were too cheap to book a room on the boat.  Ended up getting deck tickets which meant that you had to find whatever seats were around...painfull night sleeping across 4 seats though I guess it was better than the floor.

The ship docked in Bari...late...so we missed our planned 9:50 train to Rome, meaning 4 hours of hanging around till the next train.  Fortunately, Bari turned out to be a wonderful city with all these sights!  The buildings were I think neo-classical in style (just check out the pictures) and the streets were so full of character, people bustling everywhere, fruit stalls, Italian men sitting in their street cafes.  The old town especially was quite nice and we even saw Italian ladies making pasta by hand!  There were these wonderful churches as well and we saw a wedding being performed in one of them.  Bari also had this castle from like the 16th or 17th century and we ended up getting lunch next to it (Marinara Risotto...mmm).  Ended the visit with a nice dose of gelati, my goodness it was good.

The weather here has been perfect as well, not seen rain for the past 4 days so I hope it stays that way when we're in Rome.  Anyway, gonna catch some sleep now...will write more once I get into Rome.

EDIT:  Been in Rome for a day and a half, the city is AMAZING, will write more later though, need to sleep and internet is timed >.<
