After 20 hours of travelling I arrived home Tuedsay afternoon at 4:30. I ended up making my intended flights. From Sydney I had a center seat, but the other center next to me was unoccupied, so that helped a bit. We arrived LAX on time and I ended up in a window seat, exit row on that flight. It almost seemed like a 1 hour flight compared to some of the other flights on this trip, although its 4.5 hours from LAX to Charlotte. Stepping off the plane in Charlotte was a reality check. Back to the old familiar territory. Home. John timed it perfect, he arrived at the airport just as I received my bags. It was good to see a familiar face. Jake the dog was a little excited to see me, I thought he would go crazy but he was a bit reserved about the homecoming. But he has been all smiles since. He really does smile. The best dog in the world by the way!

Regarding the "vacation diet". 25 pounds!!! I knew I had dropped some weight by was astonished at how much. I weighed as much as 230 for a short time, but dropped back to my usual 220-225. Yesterday morning when I got on the scales 194!!! I have not been under 200 for many years. I am going to do everything in my power to keep it that way. I must say I am craving some good 'ol southern sweet tea though. I have not had sweet tea since I left.

Yesterday I went to the Asian food store and bought the ingredients for a Thai dinner. Luckily I was able to buy all the needed ingredients. At the food store the guy kept wanting to see me the paste for Tom Yum and Pad Thai. I told him that was like cheating and I wanted to make the "real" thing! He just laughed. I pretty much nailed the Tom Yum, but the Pad Thai needs some work. I think I had too many noodles. But I am not discouraged and will try again very soon!!! John seemed to like it. He is not big on spicy food, and the Tom Yum was spicy, but he ate it all!

It is great to be home. Of course hardly a minute does not pass that I think about the trip. Just before writing this entry I went through all my picture CD's and labeled them. Soon I will go through and pick the best of the best to print. I love the photos, they bring back such great memories. I am already excited about the Barcelona trip. I was on the US Airways employee site last night checking the bookings, so far they look very good! I hope John can swing vacation that week, as the Merci Festival is quite the event.

Take Care,

Chuck
