Hello,

Back in BKK(Bangkok). Once again familiarity is wonderful. It is nice knowing where you are going and how to get there. Well at least for the most part any way. I got up early this AM to go to the weekend market. I headed to the skytrain and got onboard. Well, I went in the wrong direction. On the green line both ends of the green line have Chit in the names. Mr. Confident jumped on. As we rode down the line I thought to myself this does not look familiar. The further we went the more sure I was it was the wrong way. At the end of the line I went to the customer service window. The guy said wrong Chit go the other way. So I did, no problem only about another 30 minutes. So I ended up at the market about 10am. Keep in mind 645am alarm! I was trying to beat the heat and get there early. It was hot as hell. I had to buy a wash cloth to wipe the sweat. This trip to the market was a little more calculated. I noted landmarks to figure out where I had been. The place is huge. If you are familiar with Metrolina in Charlotte I would guess it is at least 4 times the size. There was one booth where the girl remembered me from 3 weeks ago, I had bought some t-shirts from them. You can not imagine all the stuff for sale. There is a big "pet area", such a heartbreak, birds, dogs and cats, etc. Seperated from their mothers much too soon. I was almost in tears, so sad. This time i saw all these baby squirrels with a thread tied around their leg and with the heat they were so lethargic.

One thing I realized today was, I have been in Thailand 3 weeks. I have eaten Thai food every meal with the exception of 2 meals and they were Sushi and a couple of buffet breakfasts. I know I am going to have withdrawl once I arrive in Oz. Althuogh I hear thai restaurants are plentiful there. I hope to leave Monday night for Oz and I plan to eat from now until then. Anyone who really knows me knows that I LOVE thai food. So I plan to capitalize on this opportunity!!!

Thanks for hanging around! Talk to 'ya later.

I just returned from the Patpong night market trying to finish up my shopping list. Street commerce is alive and well here in Thailand. The city is covered in sidewalk markets and food carts. Many of the stalls are selling pirated CD's and DVD's. Most CD's are less than $3 and DVD' about $4. Ive heard some are not that great quality, so I passed on those. The sellers at the Patpong market were a bit more agressive than other places I've been in Thailand. They would say "Mr. you want a watch, CD, T-shirt, DVD, etc. I guess they have to because they are competing with the "girls" in the bars next door. Patpong is also home of the sex trade. It was a bit funny you are there shopping and negotiating with the sellers and in the backgroud thru the open door of the bars you see the dancers. So there was lots of "Mr. you want a pretty girl, come look no charge". Many of the bars had "shows" where women perform "incredible" feats, some I'd never heard of even thought about. The hawkers had menus for you to look at. I guess I'll let it go at that. I have been amazed at all the westerners in Thailand walking around with their "Thai girlfriend". But this is Bangkok and its part of what Bangkok is known for.
