I am so glad i came here! It is awesome. It has the most wonderful ambiance. In a couple of ways is sort of reminds me of Amsterdam. They are similar in that a LOT of people ride bikes and roller blade. The bikes even have their own bike lanes on the sidewalks. I learned that fact very quickly as I walked into the bike lane right in front of one! There is a river that runs right thought the old part of the city. It is like a large canal. There are sight-seeing boats, party boats, and canoes.
This is considered Eastern Europe but it feels more Continental. The Slovenians are very hip, stylish, and bohemian. There are lots of old buildings but the are a few new modern buildings. Some of the renovations have a modern twist to them as well.
Today I spent the day touring. Went to the Castle on the hill and climbed the tower, I visited a couple of churches and the University library. Other than that I have just walked the city.
It seems like all day i have been pulling my pants up. When i left Charlotte these shorts were a bit tight. I would recommend to any of you go on the European diet plan. I have been gone a month now and have only had 3 sodas. One order of french fries. Breakfast and lunch usually consist of fruit and some sort of sandwich. My big meal is dinner. And of course lots of walking!
Well I am going to run, I will tell you more about Slovenia later!

Hey, Chuck. I just love reading your descriptions of all the places you're seeing. It's almost like being there. You sound so carefree and ready for adventure. What a great way to go through the world. I'm happy for you.
Keep your pants up!
Love,
Barbara

European Diet
Okay, Chuck~now you have us all jealous of your totally-bohemian life~ You will have to treat yourself to a pair of European suspenders to hold up those now too-big shorts (or risk showing your southern exposure!) Thanks for the journal-sharing and the pictures. Mary Ann
