We're just posting a quick update on our lives in Amsterdam.
It's been a month since Melanie stopped working at ABN AMRO and time is flying by quickly! We're preparing for a 5 week "Friends and Family" tour in the U.S. and continuing to learn more about the possibilities and obstacles to staying in the Netherlands. Melanie has had a few job leads and continues to do a bit of networking since it will be necessary to find a job here by the first week of August if we're going to stay. Meanwhile, we've learned that the timeline to establish a company here, combined with our time out of the country, means this is not a possibility for the short term.
We're really looking forward to being back in the U.S. for an extended period. We're not quite sure if 5 weeks will be too long, but it's all booked and would be too expensive to change so we're just going to stick with the plan. We hope that being back that long will give us a good reaction to American culture after our 5 years in Amsterdam with only short visits home. We'll let you know the results!
