Hi again,
So, you're probably wondering about all the fun times we've been having during the past two weeks while Melanie's not working. Well, let's just say it's been far more stressful than expected. Melanie has been busy updating her resume, going to the (very unhelpful) Chamber of Commerce, researching company options, emailing contacts, holding phone interviews, finding a new mobile phone service (good luck getting something that works in Europe and the U.S. and in NL that isn't extraordinarily expensive - it's not possible!), exploring career services options, and continuing her quest for a way out of the tax hell we may be about to enter. All this while we're both trying to make some pretty big life decisions.

On the positive side, we have had more fun social outings than is usual for us. Our friend, Rich, had a birthday party during which we were introduced to a very fun all-night piano bar. We heard a classical saxophone quartet recital in the Van Gogh Museum. We had a very fun boat outing to the IJ Brewery (the one in the windmill) with some former colleagues. We were invited to(and attended) a delicious Brasilian BBQ where Melanie fell in love with the xBox Rock Star game. And, we won 2nd place for best costume at a hippie-party. Also, the weather has been lovely so we've enjoyed eating 3 meals a day on the deck. So, it's not all bad. Oh, and Melanie has found time to workout EVERY day as well as having well-manicured fingers and toes!

It really doesn't feel as if Melanie's been away from work for 2 weeks. It's just been very busy with lots of things to set up quickly. We both agree, though, that Melanie just needs to downshift a bit and stop trying to get it all done all at once. To facilitate this, Chris has planned a trip to Portugal. Hopefully the break will help us both transition. And, hey, with the extra time maybe we'll even get caught up on posting all our trips on this blog!

Til next time,
Melanie and Chris
