Wow, my first impression of Montana has been to stay on a hundred year old ranch in an old farmhouse. The owners still use horse drawn wagons to feed the cows and such. (It is cheaper then gas these days). The ranchhouse itself was an old log cabin that had been upgraded to include electricity and running water, yet was still drafty and musty. The kitchen itself had an old wood burning stove that had electric burners installed in it. They could heat the kitchen by a fire in one side then heat dinner on the electric burners. It was interesting to make cookies on such a contraption.
It has been a nice change of pace for us. I've been sick, so I didn't spend alot of time outside in the cold, but I enjoyed the lack of "conveniences". It helped me to slow down a bit and realize how much we have around us that gets filled with the day-to-day jobs and responsibilites. We are now headed to Butte, MT and are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has for us in the next couple of days.
