Today's been an extremely eventful day of travel. Left my very comfortable life in Punta del Diablo. The Cabanas I was sharing has now been vacated and everyone has gone their separate ways. Next for me is an epic 3500km bus mission through southern Brazil to Salvador for carnival. It will take me 4 days to reach the biggest party on the planet, depending on bus availability.

Tonight I travel to Florianopolis, a beach resort in southern Brazil, it's a 15 hour journey from the Uruguay border town of Chuy. Then I hope to catch another bus tomorrow to either Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

As I mentioned before, it's been an eventful day of travel. The journey to the border was a bit of a nightmare. Caught the bus to the border town of Chuy from Punta del Diablo, then realised I had to walk 2km out of town to get an exit stamp from Uruguayan immigration office, hassle! Walked back to town to find the bus station. Then discovered the bus station doesn't serve the bus company I'm travelling with, so where the hell is my bus leaving from? Anyway, a British girl who stayed in the same Cabanas as me in Punta de Diablo is also travelling to Florianopolis and she speaks a bit of Spanish so she went to find out where our bus departs from. We find out that the bus leaves from the Uruguayan immigration office where we'd just been to get our exit stamps, bloody typical. The bus finally arrived an hour and half late and had a stroke of luck when I took my seat. I paid for a standard cattle class ticket and my seat is in executive class, excellent! We crossed the border into Brazil just after 10pm, didn't even need to leave the bus. The driver took the passengers passports and got them all stamped at the immigration office, probably the easiest frontier I've every crossed outside Europe.

When I wake in the morning I'll be in Florianopolis where I'll need to catch another bus somewhere north. Looking forward to a sleep in my comfortable executive seat after a rather  hectic day of travel!
