Where I stayed

Flag of Fiji  , Mamanuca Islands,
Saturday, December 6, 2008

I spoke to some British girls at lunch who stayed in the same dorm as me when I had my bug incident. They said my mattress was left outside to air all day yesterday. One of the girls took a closer look at the mattress and said it was crawling with bed bugs, the culprits of my bites, no doubt. Maybe a few mosquito's were involved in the feast too, little bastards!

This morning was spend chilling on the beach before I caught the boat to the Manacas island group and the tiny island of Beachcomber. Beachcomber is renowned in Fiji as being the biggest party island and the 120 room dorm is supposedly a hive of nocturnal activity once the party has ended. Only staying here for one night just say I've experienced Beachcomber, one night will probably be more than enough.

Beachcomber is a seriously pretty little sandy paradise. I walked around the entire island in less than 10 minutes this evening and the place is scattered with cute huts and coconut palms. There's a very young crowd here, think I may possibly be the oldest person on the island by at least a decade, shit I'm getting old. The party on Beachcomber was a little like a youth club bash, girls taking their bikini tops off with drunk and disorderly teenagers having a good time. Not as raucous as expected though, it's all harmless fun. I found a decent group of people on the beach who I hung out with for most of the evening. Watched little reef sharks coming into shore attracted by the big flood lights on the beach, pretty cool. Resided to the 120 room dorm at 2.30am after a fun night. The dorm surprisingly wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be, drifted off pretty quickly.
