Where I stayed
In my car somewhere
Another early start to visit Dales gorge which is pretty much next door to the campsite. Walked into the gorge to see the pretty Fortescue waterfall flowing over a staircase of red sandstone. I had the place completely to myself, It was 6am so everyone probably still in bed. Scrambled out of the gorge and walked along the rim for 2km to a viewpoint overlooking the chasm. Then clambered down another trail back into the gorge which led me to the "Circular Pool". A really idyllic pool with a small waterfall surrounded by big red cliffs and large rounded boulders .
750km drive today, longest day on the road so far. Karijini National park to Port Hedland, then 400km up the coast towards Broome. In the next week or so there maybe a couple of long driving days required, especially on the run to Alice Springs.
37 degrees on the car thermometer in the early afternoon as I approached Port Hedland. First time I've really used the air conditioning so far, big difference to the 17 degrees in the south-west.
