A three and half boat ride from Kapit back to Sibu (150km). Two buses totalling 4 hours from Sibu, and a short taxi ride to reach Bintulu (220km).

Staying at the Garden Inn in the centre of town. Bintulu is booming due to the discovery of natural gas. On the way into town from the bus terminal, plush estates of villa's are dotted around everywhere. The gas has obviously brought wealth to the people of Bintulu.

Not much to see or do here really. I've had a pretty boring afternoon and evening. Bintulu is just a transit point for me to travel north to Brunei and Sabah.

Had to make a difficult decision today. Will have to sacrifice my visit to the Philippines unfortunately. I had a flight booked too, which is non refundable. There're two reasons for this decision. Firstly, there's so much I want to do in Indonesia, I now have 24 days there, which still isn't enough time but it's better than the 14 days which was the original plan. Secondly, flying from Manila to Bali is a nightmare. Flights go via Singapore which a big and expensive detour, plus I really need at least four weeks, probably more to do the Philippines justice. I'll have to leave the Philippines for another trip. Booked a cheap AirAsia flight for the 4th August from Kota Kinabalu to Bali. Will either be in Bali or Lombok for my 29th birthday, which is quickly approaching. I'm getting old now, the big 3-0 next year, shit!! Better think about settling down soon, nah!!
