Beautiful day today after many overcast and windy days on Ko Pha Ngan. The day I leave the weather improves, what can I say.

This afternoon caught a Catamaran to Chumphon on the mainland via Ko Tao, then a 9 hour coach journey to Bangkok which wasn't as bad as it sounds. The coach was comfortable, watched a few movies and managed to get some sleep too.

Found out today that 10000 people died as a result of the cyclone which hit Burma over the weekend. The death toll will no doubt increase dramatically and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being in six figures. An absolute tragedy. Very lucky it didn't hit Thailand as earlier projected. My bungalow was only 20 metres from the beach so the storm surge would have certainly wiped it out if it hit the gulf of Thailand. The overcast and windy conditions experienced over the last couple of days must have been a consequence of this killer storm.
