Where I stayed
Keys Annexe Hotel
So tomorrow is the start of this epic hike, going to be in mid thirties on day 1, a bit of contrast from summit day in 5 days time when it could be -15 and that's without the wind chill! In 12 hours I'll be on the trail, wish me luck!
A bit of a lazy day really, not a lot to report, had a briefing with our guides this morning. Cornel is the head guide, and the support guides are Lipman and Commander. Seem like a nice group of lads, pretty quiet but I'm sure when we get to know them they'll come of their shells. Been speaking to various people today about the climb, spoke to an American lady who had just been carried off the mountain by 16 porters, in the dark from 15000 feet, after slipping on some scree and badly breaking her leg. She has to go back to the US tomorrow for surgery. Fingers crossed that my group doesn't have any problems like this, but it's reassuring that you will be taken off the mountain in the event of serious injury.
