Where I stayed
First day (18.09.)
we explored Reykjavik by running. It was cold.
Interesting Law in Iceland: "In summer time, sheep are allowed to grass everywhere!"
Second Day (19.09.)
we hired a car to do the Golden Circle by ourselves - but the other way round.
We went south-east from Reykjavik to Hveragerði. From there its just few km northwards to the parking space.
Then we just followed a marked walking trail to the hot spring/ pool. It is a small stream that is around 35°C. So we jumped in - sharing the stream with other people.
Having lunch in the hot spring was just the best start in a day and get to know Iceland.
Our way to the spring was amazingly beautiful and a new experience of nature: we saw steaming grass/ ground, boiling water came out from the earth creating so much steam that you couldn't see the path.
After our bath we continued northwards to Gullfoss (a waterfall).
On rhe way we passed a volcano crater that had erupted 6.500years ago. It was filed with water. Apparently, Björk gave a concert some years ago down in the creator.
Gullfoss
A majestic waterfall in the middle of nowhere. You wouldn't assume a waterfall in that place as there are just flat fields around.
Geyser
The Geyser is not to miss. They are just next to the street and erupt regular so that we had already seen it twice just by passing with the car.
Third Day (20.09)
Pool- seal-hunting
Seals!!!
