Another busy day! After the German midterm, private lessons, and lunch, we all got together and took the bus to Hellbrunn Palace.

It's a beautiful place. We only briefly spent time at the actual building before coming together for a tour of the Trick Fountains, or Watergames. See the link for a good explanation. It was ridiculously fun and if I hadn't been carrying my laptop I would have had a great time getting squirted at random points from the statues and ground through the tour.

When that was done, we trekked up the nearby hill to visit the folk art museum, see the view of Salzburg from the top, and then explore this huge stone edifice called the Stone Theater. Here, the first opera ever (Orfeo by Monteverdi) was allegedly performed. Then, after we tested the acoustics of the cave, Steve and I walked down the hill and joined Kevin, Marqis, Dominic and Eric as we got lost in the woods and tried to find the gazebo where The Sound of Music was taped, but we were rather unsuccessful. It's a good thing I've had enough Sound of Music nonsense to last me a lifetime.

We were tired then and took the bus back to downtown Salzburg. We didn't have time to go back to the dorm before the performance so we just decided to go to dinner at Cafe Mozart and we tried Nockerl, a traditional dessert that tastes like sweet, egg-flavored air. It's all right.

This is totally not a descriptive entry, but I'm tired. When we were done there we watched Verdi's Don Carlo at the main square downtown where they have a huge screen set up and show free opera. It was a good way to end the day. The opera was finished really late, so we walked Courtney to her host mom's house before going back to the Muffin Hostel.

Now, back at the dorm, I need to sleep. Tomorrow will be my first recital performance. Wish me luck!
