I think Micha brought the rain with him though because as we got to our train stop the heavens opened and it absolutely poured down. We tried to wait it out but it looked like it was here to stay so in the end we had to walk the 15 mins back to our hotel in the pouring rain and arrived back absolutely soaking wet. It’s not too bad when it rains here though as it is actually quite refreshing, it’s so humid, even when it rains, that it’s not cold rain at all and as soon as it stops you are dry within half an hour.
Anyway we got Micha settled into the hotel and then we all headed out to the Lumphini stadium and a night of Muay Thai fighting
. We were really looking forward to seeing some proper Muay Thai and we weren’t disappointed. Although the stadium is one of the main stadiums in Bangkok it is still very 'authentic’ looking. It’s basically a boxing ring surrounded by wooden makeshift benches and stands. It’s hard to explain but it’s definitely no Wembley Stadium!! It was great though and there was such a fantastic atmosphere as the Thai people take the sport very seriously and most bet on each fight and get really involved shouting and screaming whilst the match is being fought. There were about 5 fights that we caught, each with 5 rounds (if they made it that far) and It was great to see some proper Muay Thai fighting after having trained at the camp, as we could appreciate how hard it actually is! They make it look so easy, just not when they get knocked out!!
It was a great night and even better to have the three of us here together.
Today Micha flew to Bangkok to join Bobby and me on our travelling adventure. It was so great to see Micha again; we met him at the airport and I couldn't stop smiling and hugging him when he arrived. I can’t believe how much I had missed him; It’s quite random to see him here in Thailand but I’m not complaining! :-)
